PCSing with A Pet

Those PCSing from Turkey with their pets have new rules to follow.

It's important to start the process early as it can take from 2-4 months to complete the preparation process.

Requirements

All Pets on Incirlik must be micro-chipped and have current vaccinations. All pets flying on an airplane require a health certificate within 10 days of flight.


If you are PCSing to:

The continental United States
- your pet will need a current rabies vaccine.

Hawaii, Japan, Guam - your pet will need:
Current rabies vaccine
FAVN blood test and
120-180 day quarantine

NEW! Any European Union country:

Current rabies vaccine,
FAVN blood test and
90 day quarantine in house / on base
that must be completed in Turkey


What is a FAVN test?
This process can take 2-4 months

The quarantine begins once the lab receives the sample. FAVN stands for fluorescent antibody viral neutralization test. The test indicates if your pet has a high enough titer to the rabies vaccine. The FAVN test requires two rabies vaccines to be given at least 30 days apart and a blood sample taken 15-30 days later. The blood is sent to an Army Laboratory in Texas and results are available approximately 3 weeks later.
